Reading Roundup

An evening of sanctuary and solidarity

We had a wonderful time at Reading Minster on Saturday 25 April, where we performed music from our Sanctuary & Solidarity programme, raising £3,895 for Refugee Support Group.

One of the best nights I can remember.

We had the pleasure of sharing the stage with a specially assembled group of local singers, Reading’s Ukrainian choir Kryla, as well as soprano Ruby Hughes, guitarist David Okumu and double bassist Tom Herbert.

Here we are singing our commission by Natalia Tsupryk, A Quiet Night-Tyhoyi Nochi.

We’ve been really touched to have received such positive feedback since the concert - here’s how you’ve been describing your experience:

Here’s some of the feedback from audience members and participants in our Community Voices group:

The most exquisite evening. Deeply profound, moving, joyful, generous, intimate and beautifully orchestrated. It was a privilege to share in it. Thank you.

It was incredibly beautiful sitting in the space that you created. One of the best nights I can remember. Hopefully a powerful message of solidarity to all those involved. I felt blessed to be there.

An evening with SANSARA’s choral experience is both deeply peaceful and strikingly powerful, their ethereal sound carrying an emotional weight that feels almost transcendent. Through luminous, expressive music, they shine a compassionate light on the unspeakable tragedies faced by refugees, while simultaneously offering a sense of grounded, collective hope. It’s a moving reminder of how grassroots connection and shared voices can foster understanding and inspire a brighter, more humane future.

Reaffirming my belief that through music, kindness and compassion that most people in the world are decent human beings.

It was a powerful experience. I so admire the way you see and strive to communicate music as a powerful communicator of emotion, truth and our innate potential for human solidarity. Thank you so much.
