Transforming choral music
We believe choral music is a living, breathing art form - one that thrives off curiosity, experimentation and innovation.
This approach requires change - a new vision for the future of professional choral music. We’ve already begun this transformation through three core pillars of work:
-
We love traditional concerts, but sometimes there’s something missing: real human connection. We’re developing our ‘choral gatherings’ format to explore new, inclusive ways of building community through choral music, bringing you closer to the sound and stories of the music we love.
-
New music is in our DNA and we’ve always performed music by living composers. Our commissions go a step further, fusing fresh musical imagination with real human stories. From a statement of solidarity with people displaced by war by Natalia Tsupryk, and a musical memorial to those lost during the pandemic by Rebecca Dale, to an ambitious multimedia piece of choral-theatre telling stories of history’s silenced voices by Alex Ho and Rockey Sun Keting.
-
We know that singing together is good for us - but that’s just the start. Since the pandemic, we’ve been combining breathwork with ensemble singing to support people through experiences of grief and isolation. Our Voicing Loss project gives participants space for renewal, reflection and practical evidence-based tools for emotional regulation that they can use in their daily lives.
“An evening with SANSARA is both deeply peaceful and strikingly powerful, their ethereal sound carrying an emotional weight that feels almost transcendent.”
What we need
Our creative vision needs space - to imagine new possibilities, to explore new ground, and to build enduring partnerships. Space means time, and time means money.
We also need to invest in our people - our singers and our leadership. Without them, there is no music.
To do this, we need you.
Giving voice COMMUNITY
To ‘give voice’ to something is to make it sound—to amplify what you believe in. Supporting SANSARA is not a cold transaction, nor is it just about keeping the lights on. It is a generous, creative, and collaborative act.
Our supporters aren’t just spectators; they are vital partners on our creative journey, from the first spark of an idea to the realization of a performance. From monthly givers to high-impact donors, our supporters give voice to our vision.
Our community consists of two main circles:
FRIENDS CIRCLE
Our loyal community of Friends typically give ~£50/month (£600/year).
Friends enjoy
The first listen - voice notes/clips from the rehearsal room and pre-release tracks from our recordings
The first look - scans of singers’ markings as we work on a piece of music
Plus
Invitations to exclusive receptions, online get-togethers, selected rehearsals and workshops
Advance notice, priority booking and reserved seating at all self-promoted events
Acknowledgement of support online and in selected programme booklets
DIRECTORS CIRCLE
Members of the Directors Circle form a game-changing network at the heart of SANSARA and its future, giving £250+/month (£3000+/year)
They enjoy all of the above, plus

“SANSARA is one of the most exciting choirs in the country; recognised not only for their artistry, extraordinary sound and imaginative programming, but for the way they use music to bring people together and engage with big social issues. I’m proud to be part of SANSARA’s Giving Voice Community, where gifts and regular donations help make this work possible.”
