Announcing 'Giving Voice'

giving voice

We are delighted to share our new Giving Voice strategy as we begin our next chapter.

Arts organisations have been hit particularly hard by the events of the last year and yet creativity has flourished. During this time, we have been inspired by innovative thinkers and brilliant work of our colleagues to keep our choral culture alive despite the challenges of the times.

The determination of artists in the face of such adversity has been remarkable, not only to survive the crisis, but to adapt and evolve.

For us, this has led to Giving Voice - a forward thinking and progressive creative strategy, designed to increase our social impact and build long-term sustainability. We believe choirs have a unique expressive capacity which we want to harness to share important stories, bringing our art form into the space of social advocacy and humanitarian activism.

As a first step in this direction, we’ve teamed up with The Grief Series to address the urgent grief crisis caused by the pandemic, the social isolation of three lockdowns and ongoing social distancing restrictions. Our aim is to provide opportunities for people to give voice to their grief through communal creative experiences, co-led by experienced facilitators and our professional musicians.

To give voice is to express meaning - to bring a thought or a feeling into the world and share it with others.

Building on our core values of engaged musicianship and artistic integrity, this vision challenges us to mean more to more people.

We’re mindful of the urgent need for positive change within our sector and - in conjunction with our new creative vision - we’re developing an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy to sit at the heart of our project evaluation. There is much to be done in this area and we look forward to working with choral friends and colleagues to take action together.

Join our chorus of supporters to give voice to our vision today.

Running parallel and in harmony with this new vision is our Giving Voice Campaign. Find out more here.
