re:create call for submissions

re:create

When thinking about how we could respond to events this year, we wanted to think outside the box. The virtual choir split-screen video has been adopted by lots of choirs around the world and we wanted to do something different.

re:create is our version of a virtual choir: a vocal sound library co-created by our singers and crowdsourced contributions from participants, providing the sonic building blocks for the creation of new music. This musical metaphor for collaborative regeneration and renewal is something that we hope will resonate with singers and musicians as we encourage people to add their voices and get involved with the project.

After an initial launch period at the end of July 2020, the library will be open for contributions on an ongoing basis. Several composers including Jasmin Kent Rodgman and Chris Williams will start working with the sounds in August and we will make the library available for voluntary responses in September.

This is a new way of working for us. It is an experiment, and we want you to join us in creating new music, together.
